Hluhluwe Backpackers
Backpackers in Hluhluwe, KwaZulu NatalDescriptionWe are the closest spot (1km) to the Hluhluwe/Imfolozi National Park! For the best 4x4 open vehicle game drives since 1969, visit Hluhluwe Backpackers!! We call the Big 5 our neighbours and enjoy a stunning 360 degree view onto the surrounding hills of Zululand and the mountains of the National Park!!
We offer a very warm and homely atmosphere in a unique and peaceful environment. Our main house has 4 comfortable double and 2 twin bedrooms with shared bathroom facilities. The kitchen is very well equipped with all cutlery, crockery, utensils, gas stoves, a fridge and freezer and a microwave. If you are not in the mood for cooking, we can spoil you with one of our tasty meals! The lounge/dining and reception area, the Park Pub (with cold beers and a variety of drinks) large garden area with a big boma, braai (bbq) and outside dining areas, offer you ample space to relax!
Also on offer is our 8-bed dorm, a chalet, 3 stationery parked caravans and lots of camping space - all under the shade of Marula and other indigenous trees!
We recommend you to join us on one of our open-vehicle game drives into the National Park, conducted by a professional Field Guide. Extras include fire shows, Zulu dancing, star gazing, trips to St Lucia, rural Zulu Villages, etc
FacilitiesTo eat at the outside eating area, especially at night, is a tranquil and relaxing experience, with the soft glow of lanterns burning and the only sound, those of nature's night life. The inside eating area also have lanterns, which lends it a very cosy and warm atmosphere.
The Zula dancing, singing and fire shows take place at the Boma/Braai area, with a big bonfire in the centre. An experience not to be missed!
The light, self-serving breakfrast includes: Tea & coffee, toast, cereal and fruit.
Laundry service is available when the sun is shining. Free pick-up from Hluhluwe town. Small library with book exchange. Curio showcase with local Zulu arts & crafts. English & Afrikaans spoken. If we don't know anything, we will find out.
DirectionsTraveling on the N2 highway from either the North (Swaziland Border) or the South (Durban/Richard's Bay), take the turn-off to Hluhluwe/Sodwana Bay.
