We are situated in the Central Drakensberg approximately four hours from Johannesberg and two and a half hours from Durban, in the magnificent Champagne Valley where Cathkin Peak and Champagne mountains can be viewed.

Situated on the golf course we have six spacious freestanding units. We offer a honeymoon suite with a wooden deck, four-poster bed, log fire and spa bath. Our other standard units sleep from two to six people. All units have a full bathroom downstairs. Tee and coffee facilities available.

We offer you complimentary golf and free use of our swimming pool and tennis courts, plus a la carte restaurant and pub facilities in a casual, homely environment.

The picturesque tree-lined course with kikuyu fairways and cynodon greens has six holes over water hazards which include a dams and a river with a small waterfall and swing bridge for those a little more adventurous

The golf course has a couple of dams and a river with a small waterfall plus swing bridge for those a little more adventurous!  For those golfers still at “caddy” status a pleasant walk around the course may be enjoyed. Alternatively motorised golf cars are available.

 Carvery lunch served on Sundays and restaurant and pub closed Sunday night.

Directions

From Johannesburg: Take the N3 to Harrismith Take the N5 towards Bethelem for 4km Turn left at the “Phuthaditjhaba/Bethelem” sign board and follow the road for 8km Take the R74 Bergville/Oliviershoek Pass left turn Follow route down the pass, past Bergville to Winterton On entering Winterton, over the Little Tugela bridge, there is a turning to your right (opposite Engen garage) going over the railway line – sign showing Central Drakensberg R600 From here travel 12km until you reach a crossroads. Cross straight over Travel for another 13km, pass the Nest hotel on your right, Champagne Sports Resort on your left a little further on As you pass this resort, the road dips into a valley over a low level crossing. The road bends up to the left. The golf course is on your left. About 700m up the hill you will pass Hill Billy's Farm stall on your right The next left turn will take you to Monks Cowl Country Club. It will take approximately 3 ˝ to 4 hours to reach us From Durban: Take the N3 to the Estcourt North, Giant's Castle off ramp Turn left to Loskop Travel approximately 35km through Loskop and past Kwazulu Shoe Factory until you reach the crossroads Take the left turn to “Central Drakensberg R600” Travel for another 13km, pass the Nest hotel on your right, Champagne Sports Resort on your left a little further on As you pass this resort, the road dips into a valley over a low level crossing. - I had 2 great rounds of golf at Monks, and enjoyed it thoroughly. My scoring was poor, but the fun aspect was wonderful. The course is excellent value (and I really mean excellent value) for money. Sure, it isn't Champagne Sports, but it's a good place to take a relaxing 9+9. It wasn't too busy, and not too much of a rush. The people are friendly, and NO! I'm, not related to Nicky Price. -He's the poorer side of the family Get some full sized flag poles, and get the 150 markers back in place. I'm a senior, and my guest was a student, we paid R85 each for 18. Now that's good value. The cart was helpful in getting around quickly, and not expensive. The swing bridge was an 'interesting' experience. Great fun. We cheated and played that tee box twice, each round. We'll be back Thank you Regards John Price
